That probably explains why it "appears" to be unpredictable - you're impatiently clicking on the icon, and the multiple clicks spring it out of the minimised mode - WMP can take several seconds to start up and I guess you're assuming nothing's happening and clicking again in annoyance.

In the lower left corner WMP lists that it is Changing Media. I'm currently using Vista Ultimate. The problem only appears when i use the next and back buttons and when i first start it up.
